What is a Zombie Walk?
- A corpse, a body of a dead person, that has been given the semblance of life or that has been re-animated. The walking dead. An undead creature who was once a living human, turned by voodoo or other means into a mindless, rotting, flesh-eating nightmare. And it's contagious!
- To advance on foot at a moderate pace, to move in a manner suggestive of walking as through repeated vibrations or the effect of alternate expansion and contraction. Or in the case of zombies, to stumble, crawl, shuffle, or limp.
- A period of walking, or a gathering of walkers.
How it began:
It started with the "Flash Mob." A "Flash Mob" is a group of people who come together in a public location, perform a coordinated act with no one knowing it is about to happen, and then disperse, all for the simple purpose of watching reactions of an unsuspecting audience. It was from Flash Mobs that Zombie Walks, or Zombie Crawls, were born...or gained a new form of... life? As it may be more accurately characterized!
The Zombie Walk of Seward began as a simple event in which participants dressed up as zombies and walked the streets to watch the reactions of bystander's. It was an event that was promoted on Facebook and with flyers, yet few seemed to know it was going to occur. We are now preparing for our 3rd event. Our event has grown in regards to bystander's awaiting the arrival of the zombies. And with your participation in the event we will continue to see the Zombie Walk of Seward grow.
